Aureus University's History

Our university's story is a tapestry woven from ambition, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to excellence in medical education. From our humble beginnings to our position today as a beacon of medical learning, our history is a testament to the enduring spirit of innovation and community that defines us.

Aureus University School of Medicine Aruba, proudly chartered by the Ministry of Health and Education since its founding as All Saints University of Aruba in 2004, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024.

The university changed ownership in 2011, rebranding as Aureus University School of Medicine in 2012. Now, in 2024, it has transitioned again to a Canadian-based company, with Dr. Ajit Rampure stepping in as President, Chairman, and Dean. Despite these changes, the name remains Aureus University School of Medicine.

Conveniently located in Wayaca, directly across from Queen Beatrix International Airport in Oranjestad, Aruba, the university continues to thrive and grow, standing strong through the years.

The Foundation Years

Our journey began over two decades ago when a group of visionary educators and healthcare professionals identified a critical need for accessible, high-quality medical education. They envisioned an institution that would not only provide rigorous academic training but also foster a deep sense of compassion and ethical responsibility among its students. With this vision, our university was founded, initially welcoming a modest cohort of students eager to embark on their medical careers. We quickly established ourselves as one of the best Caribbean medical schools.

Building the Dream

The early years were a time of rapid growth and development. We focused on building a curriculum that balanced the foundational sciences with practical clinical skills, ensuring our students were well-prepared for the challenges of the healthcare field. Our founders worked tirelessly, often wearing multiple hats, to create a nurturing environment that encouraged inquiry, innovation, and collaboration.

Expanding Horizons

As our reputation grew, so did our community. We welcomed students from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their unique perspectives and enriching our campus culture. Recognizing the requirement for our students to have clinical training, we have established partnerships with various teaching hospitals in Canada and USA.

Overcoming Challenges

Like any institution, we faced our share of challenges. Economic fluctuations, evolving medical education standards, and the ever-changing landscape of healthcare tested our resilience. However, each obstacle served as a catalyst for innovation, pushing us to adapt, evolve, and emerge stronger. Our community's solidarity was our greatest strength, turning trials into triumphs. Through these times, we upheld the standards expected of LCME accredited medical schools.

Embracing the Future

Today, our university stands as a testament to the power of vision and dedication. Our alumni network spans the globe, with graduates making significant contributions to medical science, patient care, and community health. Our campus is a vibrant hub of learning and discovery, equipped with the latest technologies and learning resources, maintaining our status as one of the USMLE accredited medical schools. We continue to build on our legacy, preparing leaders in healthcare who are ready to take on the world's healthcare challenges.
